Blissary is free and non-commercial. We do our best, but everything here is offered as it is and can contain mistakes. Blissary is an independent project and is not run by Blissymbolics Communication International (BCI).
What we cannot promise
Everything on the site or provided through it, from dictionary entries to AI answers and downloads, can contain mistakes or be incomplete. Please check anything important before you rely on it. For example:
- The dictionary can contain mistakes in its translations, explanations and symbols. The BCI Authorized view presents BCI’s authorized vocabulary, with the modifications described on our About page. The Blissary View is an exploratory perspective of our own and is not part of BCI’s authorized vocabulary.
- Anything written by AI, such as the answers in Origins, can be wrong or incomplete. Origins names the pages of Charles K. Bliss’s book Semantography that each answer draws on, so you can check it against the book.
- The communication tools are made for communication and learning. They do not replace the advice of a speech and language therapist or anyone else with professional knowledge of AAC. Technology can fail: a battery runs out, a browser updates, a connection drops. Anyone who communicates with these tools should always have another way to communicate at hand, such as a communication board on paper, especially in urgent situations and in health care.
- Downloadable images and exports are made automatically. Please check them before using them in material that others will rely on.
The site and its content can change, move or be removed without notice. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site, from being unable to use it, or from relying on anything on it or provided through it.
Using the site
You are welcome to use Blissary freely: at home, in teaching and in your work. We only ask that you do not:
- use the site against the law or against other people’s rights,
- send unlawful or abusive content through the contact form or Origins,
- overload the site, for example with large-scale automated requests, or try to get around its limits and protections against abuse.
We may limit or block use that overloads or abuses the site.
Licences
What the dictionary data is based on, what you may reuse and how to credit it is described on our Licence and Attribution page.
Changes and questions
We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top shows the current version. If you have a question, write to info@blissary.com or use our contact page.
